Notes from Day 24:
Mrs. Miller, Crystal and Savannah-Hope had a quiet day at home. Savannah-Hope is fighting a cold. The house Crystal is staying in has a DVD player. When the electricity is on, they are able to watch movies. Crystal wishes she would have thought to pack some movies for Savannah-Hope. Savannah has one Baby Einstein DVD that I sent to Malawi back in February and they have been watching it over and over and over and over. Crystal said she is so desperate for something new she would even take a Dora the Explorer DVD. Crystal is looking forward to taking Savannah-Hope on walks in the stroller, to the park, to the YMCA, reading books and watching her interact with her siblings once they get home. The activities they can do while in Malawi are pretty limited.
It really is wonderful to see how Savannah-Hope has blossomed since she has been with her forever Mama. She seems to be learning new tricks everyday. Currently her favorite pass time is the electrical sockets. And the voltage is twice as high as that of the US. Because of this, Savannah-Hope has already learned the word "no". There are no socket protectors and baby gates in Malawi :) Crystal said that when she first got Savannah, she would crawl under the coffee table and sit up. She has grown so much that her whole head is above the coffee table, there is no way she can sit under it. Savannah-Hope is truly a miracle!
For those of you new the blog here is what Savannah-Hope looked like one week after she had been brought to Good Samaritan.
This is missionary Jim Joregenson who works with Brother Gentry and Good Samaritan. I like this picture because it gives you a good perspective of her size in those early days. She was 4 months old in this picture and only 4 pounds.

Amazing pictures! Thank you for sharing them. It just hits home how great the need is for mamas and daddies, for love and provision.
When we told people we were adopting from China, we were often asked why we didn't adopt a child from the US who needed a family, since there were many of those. Our response was that those children certainly needed homes as well, but that God didn't create America in Genesis, but the whole world, and he loves all of it... and the orphans in it. Your pics are such a visual reminder of how we are called to care for the widows and the orphans.
Praying you home,

I know you have no idea who I am,but your SIL has requested we stop and say hi tell a joke or just some funny story.
I am a C.N.A. in a nursing home.Several years back a very sweet but fiesty elderly lady was in the dinning room.We were trying to get her to eat her meal, but she refussed. She just kept asking to go back to her room. After several failed attempts to get her to eat,I finaly told her when her milk was gone I would take her to her room. She quickly lifted her glass, poured the milk on the floor, set the glass down and said........take me to my room.
I still laugh to this day when i think of that. She got me good, I guess I never said she had to drink it.
Hope this helps brighten your day.
God's blessing to you and your family.
Crystal,
Hey girl! It's your long lost friend ShaQuan. You remember me? HA! Thought you could use a good laugh.:-) I haven't talked to you in awhile and I was thinking to myself....hmmmmm....I really need to check her blog, so I scrolled back through all my e-mails till I found it and logged on. Girl, I did not have any clue you were still in Malawi. Savannah is beautiful and what an amazing adventure you have had. I was reading through things.....I know you are missing your hubby/kids and well you know the rest--ha! You're the only one of my friends I can say that to. I would send you Teletubbies if it would get there in time. At least that would make you laugh. I just wanted to you to know that I have been praying fervently since yesterday afternoon with a heavy burden for you and Savannah. I am praying God will wrap his arms around you, give you favor with all in authority, and get you home ASAP.
I love you!
Love,
Melanie
I just read the whole story.... it's absolutely amazing!!! I can't help but wonder what God has in store for her little life!
It's hard to believe a wee one who is the cutest little girl in all of Malawi, or Africa, for that matter, could have ever started off life in such a desperate condition.
I'm still praying for you! Can't wait to see what unfolds in the next few days!
Sara Olson
I'm glad that the paperwork is at least in Africa...maybe you'll get some good news this weekend.
What amazing photos of Savannah-Hope.
Yet, another joke/story at the request of Gwen.
A father wanted to read the paper, but was being bothered by his little daughter, Susie. Finally, he took a sheet out of his magazine, on which was printed the map of the world. Tearing it into small pieces, he gave it to Susie, and said, "Go into the other room and see if you can put this together."
After a few minutes, Susie returned and handed him the map correctly fitted together. The father was very surprised and asked how she had finished so quickly.
"Oh", she said, "on the other side of the paper is a picture of Jesus. When I got Jesus in His place, then the world came out all right."
It's a cute story, but also a good message.
Soooooo praying for you! When you introduced us to your bodyguard (is that what he is?) I had to stop viewing for few days because I had some serious snake fear! (so not kidding!)
Savannah is gorgeous and I cannot believe what a peanut she was - those pictures are amazing.
Praying for your health (collectively) and for return quickly!
Blessings,
Heather
