Day 17 April 3rd

New pictures from Malawi

Here is a picture of a carseat Malawian style. I can not wait to buckle Savannah-Hope into her Britax Boulevard carseat.

Chrissie has requested pictures of Savannah-Hope on my back in front of a pretty background. Here are my attempts at this. Clifford my guard stood near to fight of the bugs and snakes.

I didn't think I would like tying Savannah-Hope on my back with just a piece of material. But I love it! I can't explain how natural it feels to have her so close.

Savannah-Hope and Thandie the orphanage director.

Notes from day 17:

  • There have been three Good Samaritan relates funerals since I have been here. One of them was for Wilson's (my night guard) niece who died of tuberculosis.
  • I am thrilled with Savannah-Hope's schedule. When I got her she wasn't eating much baby food at all and drank small amounts of formula all day and three times at night. She never seemed rested and was hungry all the time. I have since modified her schedule with fabulous results! She is sleeping at night from 7 pm to 7am. The last three nights she slept through without as much as a peep. Praise the Lord! And since she is not eating at night, she has a much heartier appetite during the day. She is eating three good sized meals and drinking four 7oz bottles a day.
  • She is gobbling up baby food now. She prefers orange vegetables over green ones, and fruit over all vegetables. Her favorites are apple blueberry and banana orange medley. She also LOVES broccoli cheddar soup!
  • Savannah can pull herself to a stand now! She is so amazing!
  • I can see her first two teeth are getting closer to popping through. I am so grateful to see some of these "firsts" with her.
  • All the sick kids at the Children's Home are feeling better and released from the hospital.
  • We stayed home most of the day today but made one quick outing to the Internet Cafe.
  • Thank you so much for your prayers and comments. They help me more than you know!

When we go to Mexico, sometimes there isn't a seat belt. I feel totally naked. CAN NOT imagine having to just hold my baby w/no carseat.

Praying for your journey.
