411 on the Care Packages

Thank you so much for all the supportive comments and prayers for these precious girls. It means so much to us. We aren't in a position to be able to cover the costs alone. We are so thankful that the Lord has given us friends, family, church family and bloggers to join with us to help the girls.

The most cost efficient to send the care packages is to use the USPS Flat Rate International Shipping box. The box itself is free and can be picked up at any U.S. post office. The box costs $49.95 to ship no matter how heavy it is. The only restraint is size, the box is not very big (12” X 12” X 5½ “).

**************
*Malawi does not allow you to ship used items. We have sent new items without tags, packaging and labels without any problems. If you have a “like new item” it would probably best to put it at the bottom of the box or wrap it in something else that appears new. Every box is opened and inspected at customs. They usually just peek inside. But if they see something questionable then they will dump out the whole box for inspection. The post office will ask if you have anything liquid or perishable in the box. They are looking for produce and alcohol. The liquid hygiene products are fine as well as the food items on our list. Also we recommend placing the hygiene products in a zip-lock bag to avoid leaking.

*Note on the girls clothing
The girls’ shirts/dresses need to have some type of sleeve. Their skirts/dresses need to be long enough to cover their knees. The girls can wear leggings and tights under their skirts and dress, but pants are not allowed at the orphanage. Pajama pants are fine.

Again thank you for your prayers and support. I know this list of needs can be overwhelming. We are trusting in the Lord that he will make a way. Every dollar and item donated is appreciated and will be used to give life and hope to these precious miracles that are far from us in distance but held tight in our hearts.
