Paging Crystal Johnson....

Crystal Johnson....emergency phone call on line one....Crystal Johnson emergency phone call on line two....

So I am at work on Tuesday night and I hear my name paged over the main hospital overhead paging system. Not the regular page I get on my floor when I get a phone call at the unit desk. This was over the main speaker. My heart jumped into my stomach. I answer one line its my mother, on the other its Shane. They were calling me at the same time. I couldn't even hear them over the thoughts racing through my head. What's wrong? Who is hurt? Is there a tornado? Somebody sick? A fire?

It turns out that Shane was experiencing severe abdominal pain. Shane has an extremely high tolerance for pain and he absolutely HATES hospitals. So when he was asking to go to the emergency room, I knew he was in serious pain. He wasn't able to pick up Savannah-Hope and was just doubled over in pain. Thank God my parents live in the same town! Mimi stayed with the kiddos and Poppy drove Shane to my hospital. I met Shane in the Emergency room and got him all checked in. I was pretty sure it was kidney stones. The doctor agreed....and the tests confirmed....3 kidney stones (triplets!). So I waited with my husband for 5 hours in the ER waiting for them to get his pain under control and come up with a treatment plan. I told Shane if he really wanted to get me alone for a night and spend $100 I could have thought of some funner ideas!

Shane was given some heavy duty pain medication, a strainer, a plastic cup and a follow-up appointment.

Wednesday morning we followed up with the urologist. The triplets are still there. They have not left. We are hoping for a smooth delivery within the next five days....otherwise Shane is looking at a minor surgical procedure. Poor guy! Please lift him up in prayer!

Wasn't he such a good sport to pose with his strainer and plastic cup for the blog post? I have a feeling he doesn't even remember posing for the picture. They gave him some pretty good pain meds. Lol!

Oh, I can SO relate! I was at the ER for the same thing (not triplets though) on Saturday. I hope things pass quickly for him - it is NO FUN!
